I am a high school teacher, football coach, and rugby coach living in the Chicago suburbs. I am also an aspiring writer trying to balance the pursuit of a lifelong dream against the unceasing pressures of work, extra-curricular obligations, and family. I am a proud daddy who wants to prove to his 2 daughters (a pre-schooler and an infant) that there’s nothing they can’t achieve if they’re willing to work for it. Or, if nothing else, that there’s no shame in falling short of their goals if they’ve put forth their best efforts and done everything in their power to succeed. I am a man who refuses to ever have to look his children in the eyes and admit that he left his oldest and dearest dreams on the table because he was too weak, too scared, or simply too damn lazy to achieve them.
I am an old curmudgeon and a thirty-something renaissance man.
I am an English teacher and a comic book fan.
I am a jock and a nerd.
I am a jack-of-all-trades and a dilettante.
I am a walking contradiction and a contemporary cliché.
In short, I am a husband, a father, a teacher, a coach, and an author. I will write – and sometimes rant – about all of these aspects of my life.
When I’m not too busy actually being and doing them.
